A loss for us all
Written on 20/09/2010
Mr Melville R Watts passed away on the morning of the 19th August 2010, in his own Lydney Hospital after a relatively short illness.
A great blessing was that on Saturday, whilst in Lydney Hospital, he was able to 'celebrate' his 87th birthday with his family whilst Melville sported a funny hat and cut the cake.
The Service of Thankgiving took place on Saturday, September 18th 2010 at St Mary's Church, Lydney.
People started arriving at 9.15am and the awaiting congregation had the chance to peruse a colourful Order of Service, which Mr Melville Watts had previously prepared. It included many pictures depicting chapters of his life.
The sheer number of people who attended the Service shows what an exceptional man he was. All of which had known and respected Mr Melville for his passion and loyalty, not only to the family business but also, to the local community.
Melville will be remembered as a gentleman and human dynamo who above all put 'Service before Self'.
He certainly lived respected and his passing will be regretted by so many.
