The new Minor Injuries Unit reception area
The Friends of Lydney Hospital were formed in 1969 to provide much needed equipment and comforts for the benefit of patients, staff and visitors.
Since then the Friends have donated over £950,000, generously given by the local community and used for various projects at the hospital. These include Theatre and X-Ray equipment, refurbishment of inpatient wards and the MIU (minor injury unit), and more recently £200,000 towards the cost of additional outpatient facilities.
We do not fund the core services provided by the Gloucestershire PCT.
The Hospital provides 21 in-patient beds supported by local GPs, an operating theatre suite, a minor injury unit, day case beds, palliative care, a modern physiotherapy department and even endoscopy sessions.
Lydney Hospital is a valuable asset within our community. The availability of local medical amenities means that patients can be seen quicker and do not have the additional stress of travelling 20 miles to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
This is why we have a passion to help.
